Our clinic was established as a neurological, psychiatric and rehabilitation department of the Minamata Kyoritsu Hospital. The Minamata Kyoritsu Hospital and our clinic diagnose and treat Minamata disease patients.
Minamata disease has not only taken the lives of innocent people and physically damaged many others, but has also broken the spirit of the community and caused deep grief and sorrow through the hardship and discrimination resulting from it.

Although a significantly large number of people have received compensation, the Government has not conducted any environmental or health investigations in the area.

In addition, “experts” who have written about Minamata disease in medical textbooks and journals have had to follow the administrative criteria set down by the Government and have thus only reported about cases dealing with seriously ill patients who had contracted the disease in the early stages of the outbreak.
Therefore, information about the symptoms, diagnosis, or treatment of chronic Minamata disease among current patients has not been conveyed to the local inhabitants, medical doctors or the Japanese public at large.

On July 17, 2008, we established a Japanese language homepage to offer help and advice to the people who are still suffering from Minamata disease.
Now we are updating the homepage with an English version in order to provide other countries with unbiased information about the real facts surrounding Minamata disease.
